Artist Ola Lanko is interested in the way we perceive images. As part of her ongoing investigation into the subject of visual literacy, she asked Selected Works to design a simple tool that would function both as a personal notebook, as well as a way to display the illustrations that she creates over the course of this project.
We concluded that she didn’t really need a traditional website or weblog, because this is non-linear project. Rather, she’d open up this page and click on certain examples while explaining visual literacy. All the examples are ordered in a dynamically drawn spiral. This way we used almost all the space available on the screen, and it gave a feeling of a stack of photographs.
The result is very simple: a single page with enlargable images that can be moved around the screen with a single click. It’s an online box of images — just like Ola wanted.
